Lululemon La Jolla Hosts San Diego Fitness Pros Event

On July 28, 2017, the Lululemon La Jolla store hosted professionals from the San Diego fitness industry at their store. The purpose was to educate about the store’s Sweat Collective program, which offers promotions and incentives to those that work in the fitness industry. This include personal trainers, gym owners and coaches.

As an icebreaker, attendees were given nametags with a question that they were to ask one another. The nametag I was given was fittingly “What was the first concert you attended.”

The answers to that question help form the setlist for a portion of the evening. As people gave me their answer, I played a song from that artist. This was fun as it’s not typical to mix in Kenny Chesney, Britney Spears and the Kingsmen into a set.

Lululemon La Jolla Grand Re-opening Party

Lululemon La Jolla staff celebrate the grand re-opening of their store.

It’s been nearly two years since I DJ’d at the Lululemon store in La Jolla. In that time I’ve DJ’d many events for the company both in and out of their stores. Also much has changed in my life and in some ways my professional and personal life have been reborn.

So it seemed fitting that I was in the store for their grand “re-opening,” after the location was closed for a complete overhaul and remodel. The staff put together an opening party, inviting their customers, ambassadors and other friends for a night of celebration.

I was privileged when they asked me to DJ the event and it was another great excuse to bring out the turntables and Lulu vinyl.

I’m no stranger to a themed dance party and I’ve seen many. There are 80s parties with tons of neon, hair spray, Debbie Gibson and Wham. Of course 70s parties with bell bottoms, disco music and afros. But this event was a first, a party completely centered around one pop music artist that shares the same first name as me … Justin.

And while most of us would assume the last name of said artist is Timberlake, but not in this case. That’s right, the other Justin …. Justin Bieber. Yes, the Biebs.

A Justin Bieber Dance Party at Ivivva UTC took place this past December 19, 2015.

Ivivva is the young girls clothing brand for Lululemon Athletica and as such, a Bieber themed party seems to make sense since he’s popular with their target demographic. This in store event brought out a handful of girls who had a great time shopping for clothes, bedazzling their hair with strands of glitter, and yes, even taking pictures with a life size cutout of J-Bieb.

I can't say I've been a fan of the former Mr. Selena Gomez. But I must say, his new album is producing hit after hit and I’m liking what I am hearing. Sorry, but I really like them … or is it too late to say I’m sorry?

Lululemon Outlet Opening Day - Desert Hills Premium Outlet

The Lululemon Outlet store at the Desert Hills Premium Outlet Mall opened on November 6.

We’ve finally got a Lululemon Outlet Store within a reasonable driving distance of San Diego and I had the privilege to be a part of opening day. The store, nestled in the massive Desert Hills Premium Outlet Mall, opened on November 6, 2015. As expected, a line of Lulu addicts started to line up outside the door about an hour before opening time. Once the ribbon was cut, it was on!

Lululemon Athletica Fashion Valley First Anniversary Party

Happy one year anniversary to the crew at Lululemon Fashion Valley.

The Lululemon Athletica store located in Fashion Valley Mall celebrated its one year anniversary by closing down the store a little early on a Friday night, inviting some friends and having a big ‘ol dance party.

An acroyoga performance is one way to entertain and impress guests at a party.

I provided DJ and uplighting services for my Lulu friends. Part of the program also included an acroyoga performance and a silent disco … a first time experience for me.

This unique dance floor experience provides dancers with headphones that were tuned directly into my music. While the purpose is to feed up to three music sources, allowing users to choose between them, on this night it was just me. Given that, I choose a few songs that were known “karaoke” favorites. With everyone’s headphones on, and my main speakers off, I spun hits from Journey, Vanilla Ice, Spice Girls etc. and had the interesting experience of listening to nearly 100 people sing at the top of their lungs with no audible music. Good stuff!
